The Key's Pupils Exhibit Art Work In Winchester
This exhibition has been created by young people from The Key in response to ARTIST ROOMS: Agnes Martin, currently exhibited in The Gallery on the first floor Winchester Discovery Centre. Agnes Martin’s work offers a kind of spirituality and transcendence, with subtle colours that appear to project beyond the paintings themselves to engage all the senses.
The ARTIST ROOMS initiative is a collection of over 1,600 works of modern and contemporary art by more than 40 major artists. The collection is displayed across the UK through a touring programme, supported by Arts Council England, Art Fund and Creative Scotland.
The work was created by young people as part of the Horizon 20:20 programme, working directly with professional artists to explore, experiment and respond to the ideas and work of Agnes Martin. All of the young people have learnt a wide range of skills and processes through different art forms, exploring and expressing their personal response to the subject. Rachel Russell worked with our pupils to create a stunning window display (see image) using glass painting and wire.
