Feeling Puzzled On A Weekly Basis - Maths At The Key
In Numeracy this term, Yellow group have been working on their problem solving skills. They have been extending their learning by applying what they have learnt in Maths to ‘real life’ problems. This half-term's problems will be focused on money.
In Maths this term pupils will study graphs, sequences and transformations. Pupils will understand how to interpret graphs and how to plot a line graph. They will also be able to recognise and complete sequences and potentially write a formula for the nth term.
This term has seen the start of Maths intervention sessions. The aim of these is to help pupils reach their potential in Maths. There have been some great successes so far this term.
Finally, ‘Puzzle of the Week' has been launched this term. New puzzles are placed around the Centre every Wednesday morning and are available during tutor time. Pupils who return correct answers by the end of Friday receive a full stamp card. The aim of the puzzles is to encourage the use of basic numeracy and problem solving skills. These Maths skills will enable pupils to access more advanced Maths concepts when they study Functional Skills Maths or GCSE Maths.
