The Successes Continue - Literacy Intervention At The Key
Since joining The Key in January to teach English and Literacy, I have had the privilege of supporting a number of wonderful pupils on a one-to-one basis. In English Intervention sessions, with Key Stage 3 pupils, I have been working on a bespoke curriculum, aiming to boost comprehension and reading skills. The sessions range from 20 minutes to 40 minutes a week per pupil, depending on their needs. This term, I am also introducing a spelling element for a number of pupils, using an interactive games-based programme.
Older pupils have been focusing on Functional Skills Level 1 qualifications in reading and writing. Their hard work has meant that all of them, to date, have passed the tests that they have attempted. A Level 1 pass provides pupils with an excellent foundation for the Level 2 courses, where a pass is the equivalent of a grade 4 at GCSE.
All of the pupils have worked hard in their intervention sessions and have made progress. I am very proud of their achievements and hope that they are proud of themselves. Many congratulations to all of you. Keep up the good work!
