Be Our Guest - Food Technology At The Key Havant

Our Year 11 pupils have been working hard in their Food Technology lessons to complete their tasks for the Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills assessment. The aim of this qualification is to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy cooking meals at home, as well as gaining an understanding of how to economise when planning meals.


Pupils had to select recipes for their meal which could consist of a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert. In their lessons, pupils selected and prepared the ingredients for their chosen recipes. They had to demonstrate food safety and hygiene throughout the preparation and cooking process.


The end results were extremely successful as can be seen. Pupils worked enthusiastically to produce delicious, appetising meals for the staff. They showed excellent preparation and presentation skills. We are all very proud of their achievements.
