Taking A Different Seat - Maths At The Key Gosport
by Ms Penberthy
In last term's Maths lessons at The Key Gosport, Key Stage 4 groups looked at topics that frequently appear on GCSE papers. They recently finished studying probability and the pupils enjoyed applying what they learnt to ‘real life’ problems. Key Stage 3 groups studied the topic of 'number' and focused on working with decimals.
This academic year has seen the one-to-one Maths intervention sessions continue. The pupils involved are making excellent progress towards being able to complete their GCSE exams and/or Functional Skills tests. Each pupil follows a different programme of study, matched to their needs. If Maths intervention is of interest to your child, then please get in touch with us.
Last term we trialled flexible seating in our Maths lessons. Pupils were provided with a variety of seating options at different height levels, as an alternative to the type of seating arrangement usually found in classrooms. So far this has been particularly popular with our KS4 pupils.
We had some brilliant success stories in Functional Skills Maths last term. Most pupils have now passed their Level 1 and will focus on the Level 2 qualification in the spring term. Well done to them all!
