Team Work Makes The Dream Work - Team Building At The Key

25 Jan 2018

As part of our widening curriculum, several classes are now taking part in team building lessons. Teaching pupils to get along well and work productively with others is a vital skill that they will need as they venture towards adulthood. Working as part of a team can increase confidence as well as enabling our pupils to develop their social and emotional skills.

Our pupils have been tackling many challenges which have highlighted several strengths they didn’t necessarily know they had. As teams, they have built bridges from newspapers, spaghetti and marshmallow towers. They have also learned the importance of good communication in guiding a blindfolded member of staff through an obstacle course. Finally, they have learned the art of turn-taking by playing Giant Jenga.

All pupils who have taken an active role in the team building classes have been working towards an OCN award. This will give them another accreditation to add to their collection, which will prove useful when they apply for apprenticeships and places at colleges.
