Punching Our Way To Fitness - PE At The Key

8 Dec 2018

This term in Physical Education we have focused on boxing. This has been successful and has given pupils an opportunity to gain AQA Awards. In addition to helping them improve their fitness levels, regular boxing also boosts their confidence and improves their self-discipline and anger management.

In each lesson, pupils work on their stamina by completing a short 'blast' on the punch bag. They then carry out combinations of the different punches they have been learning each week, which helps them develop their memory and coordination. The pupils will soon plan their own circuit and complete it as part of the boxing programme.

Aside from boxing, we have been very fortunate in securing funding for Dallaglio RugbyWorks to deliver rugby sessions to our pupils every Monday afternoon. This led to our pupils entering an inter-Education Centre rugby tournament, in which we secured second place. In addition, one of our pupils was nominated Player Of The Tournament. Well done to all those involved!
